Kodama Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 27, 2026
What data Kodama collects
Kodama stores Discord server IDs, channel IDs, message IDs, user IDs, display names, message content from channels it can access, timestamps, command usage, moderation settings, and audit log entries for privacy and admin actions.
How data is used
Messages are embedded with OpenAI text-embedding models and stored for server-scoped semantic search, lore answers, member reads, daily recaps, mention replies, and voice profiles. Memory from one server is not used to answer questions in another server.
Retention
Kodama keeps indexed server memory while the bot remains installed and the data has not been removed by a privacy control, Discord deletion event, owner request, or operational cleanup.
Opt-out and forget controls
/optout hard-deletes a member's indexed messages and stops
future indexing for that member. /optin re-enables future
indexing. /forget removes a specific indexed message by
Discord message link.
Deleted Discord messages
When Kodama receives a Discord messageDelete event, it
removes the matching indexed message from memory.
Direct messages
Kodama does not read Discord DMs. It operates in servers where it has been added and only sees channels permitted by Discord permissions.
No sale of data
Kodama does not sell Discord message content, user IDs, embeddings, member profiles, or server lore.
